Here’s a great shortcut for changing the case of words in MS Word: put your cursor on any word or selection of words and press SHIFT+F3. Use the shortcut two more times and you’re back to square one. I hope this will save you as much time as it has saved us!

Dear Reader,
It's been almost two years since Apex has been up and running, and we are really excited to finally publish our first e-newsletter, ExTra!.
You are receiving this e-newsletter because Anaïs, Louis, or I have personally met you, you're a colleague, a member of an association we belong to, family, a friend, or a client. Your time is precious so before we go any further we want to save you some scrolling strain and let you unsubscribe, now and forever, by clicking here.
If you're still reading, congratulations! Every two months, you will receive a copy of ExTra! with exciting news from the frontlines of the translation industry, IT tips to help save you time and money, an update about what we've been up to as members of various local associations, information about a featured client, and more...
So without further ado, we'll let you get on with your reading and invite you to send us your letters, reactions, and constructive criticism about how we could improve our next issue!
Warmest regards from Nice,
Anaïs & John Di Rico

First-ever Proz Regional Translation Conference in Aix-en-Provence
Apex is proud to be coordinating alongside Kathryn Stratcheky and Rebekka Gross the Proz regional conference that will be taking place in Aix-en-Provence the first week in November. Proz conferences are unique opportunities for translators and interpretors to learn more about the industry, share experiences, and network with other professionals. In Aix, we'll be welcoming several speakers from outside the translation and interpretation community to talk about business-related issues in France, marketing, and more.
Robert Solomon from Sud Convergences will be coming all the way from Sophia Antipolis to give a talk about the advantages and disadvantages of starting out as an independent with an umbrella company. Cécile Bernouin from Cap Clients will also be teaching us how to bypass intermediaries and work directly with end clients. Françoise Pawlak, the director of Pays d'Aix Initiatives, has agreed to come and tell us more about how their organization can help new professionals in our industry with interest-free loans and consulting services. Finally, Yves Champollion, translator and creator of Wordfast, will be opening the event as our key-note speaker on Friday morning.
Find out more about the conference by clicking here. If you’re on the other side of the pond, we'll be in Montreal in October for the Wordfast training followed by the North American Proz Regional Conference. We will also be visiting friends and family between Montreal and Boston… if you're anywhere between these two cities, let us know and we'll see if we can't meet up for coffee!

National, award-winning environmental project sponsored in part by Apex Traduction
This summer, the Junior Chamber International of Menton/Roquebrune-Cap-Martin launched an innovative public service action to inform boaters about the ecological impacts of coastal pollution and collect waste and recyclables from boats anchored offshore from Menton to Monaco.
The project made national televised news in France and recently received a Coup de Coeur award from the Nicolas Hulot Foundation, a state-approved environmental organization whose purpose is to contribute to discovering nature
and protecting the environment through exploration, research, education, and communication.
Anaïs and I immediately seized upon the opportunity to sponsor this project because it perfectly reflects our values and concern for the environment. If you had the chance to do some boating this summer, you may have seen the brochure that we translated into English and Italian!
If you are interested in keeping this action “afloat” next year and seeing it succeed in other areas, please contact the JCI of Menton/RCM to find out more about what you can do to get involved.
