Wordfast Classic for Beginners

Description

This training is devoted to setting up and using the general features of Wordfast Classic. A workflow approach from translation quoting to delivery will be used and practical exercises will focus on creating and using glossaries and translation memories, as well as handling references.

By the end of this training, you will be able to use Wordfast Classic to:
  • Translate, edit and proofread MS Word documents
  • Create a glossary and add terminology to it during a translation session
  • Import glossaries from Excel or Word files
  • Clean-up a document
  • Analyze a document before quoting for time management
  • Use placeables
  • Customize your configuration
  • Run a concordance search across one or several translation memories

How to create a translation memory (TM), Open segments, protecting delimiters, closing a translation session, resuming a translation session, cancel a segment, force segmentation, copy the source segment, expand/shrink segments, provisional segments, revising a segmented document

Preview, analyze a document, understand the results of an analysis

Handling placeables: preview, selecting placeables, copying placeables, customizing placeables
Terminology management: preview, glossaries, creating a glossary, opening an existing glossary, using a glossary, insert the target word , open the glossary editor with a word selected, open a glossary scroll-down toolbar
Glossary editor: preview, import terminology, glossary editor shortcuts and methods, the Open button, the Tools button, exercises

Prerequisites - IT Requirements

Working knowledge of MS Word and fluent in English.
Trainees must bring their own laptop for the training with an installed version of Wordfast Classic. If you are having problems installing the software please contact trainer before the training day.
